Health and Wellness, Together is a 13-session series of free community seminars focusing on learning practical tools for taking care of ourselves and each other, creating safer and more connected communities, grounding in collective support, and reclaiming wellness as something we build together.

Each session blends learning, hands-on practice, and discussion in a supportive, welcoming space. Together, we’ll explore how to care for ourselves and each other while navigating systems that don’t always meet our needs.

September 28, 2025: Packing Kits & Community Support

Goal: Help participants prepare for their own needs and support others by learning how to build personal and outreach kits, connect with local resources, and share tools for collective care.

Core Themes:

  • Care starts in community. We support one another when systems fall short.

  • Outreach should center dignity, choice, and autonomy.

  • Local knowledge and shared resources keep us safer and more connected.

October 26, 2025: Navigating Care & Advocating for Yourself

Goal: Give participants clear tools to decide where and when to seek care, and how to speak up for themselves and others in medical settings.

Core Themes:

  • Access to care isn’t equal, and we name barriers openly.

  • Knowing your options helps you make informed choices about your health.

  • Advocacy builds confidence and strengthens connections to community support systems.

  • Navigating trauma around medical situations and how to mitigate triggers.

November 23, 2025: Interpersonal Communication & Conflict Skills

Goal: Give participants tools to communicate clearly, stay grounded in hard conversations, and build stronger relationships while honoring personal boundaries and safety.

Core Themes:

  • Disagreement doesn’t have to lead to harm. We can approach conflict with care.

  • Self-regulation helps us stay grounded in hard conversations.

  • Trust and repair make communities stronger and safer.

  • Knowing when communication is a one-way street and how to disengage in unwanted conversations.

January 25, 2026: Mental Health Wellness & Somatic Safety

Goal: Help participants learn grounding techniques, nervous system regulation tools, and everyday practices to support mental health and wellbeing.

Core Themes:

  • Caring for mental health is an ongoing practice, not waiting for a crisis.

  • Grounding and somatic tools can reconnect us to our bodies when stress or trauma takes over.

  • Community care networks can hold us when we can’t hold ourselves.

  • These are skills for preventative care, responsive care may look different.

February 22, 2026: Mental Health Crisis Response & Harm Reduction

Goal: Teach participants how to recognize and respond to mental health crises, de-escalate safely, and reduce harm while supporting others.

Core Themes:

  • Calling for help can be risky for many people and we explore safer options.

  • Crisis response works best when we meet people where they are, without judgment.

  • Harm reduction saves lives and strengthens trust within our communities.

March 22, 2026: Rights, Privacy, Advocacy & Community Safety

Goal: Give participants tools to protect their privacy, understand their rights, and advocate for themselves and others while keeping communities safe. Teaching people that knowing their rights and exercising them sometimes look differently. 

Core Themes:

  • Knowing your rights can make unsafe situations safer.

  • Properly documenting things can provide evidence if it ever becomes necessary.

  • Digital privacy and physical safety are connected and equally important.

  • Advocacy becomes stronger when we work together and share resources.

April 26, 2026: Personal Safety & Event Readiness

Goal: Teach participants strategies for staying safe at events, protecting themselves and others, and responding to emergencies in crowded spaces.

Core Themes:

  • Safety looks different depending on who you are and where you are. Personal trauma and experience play a large role.

  • Practicing safety skills ahead of time builds confidence and muscle memory for when it matters.

  • Community safety includes everyone and comes from looking out for one another.

  • Knowing what to look for proactively can help prevent crimes of opportunity and lessen the likelihood of unsafe situations.

May 24, 2026: Disaster Planning, Evacuation & Survival

Goal: Prepare participants to handle large-scale disruptions by making personal and collective plans, sharing resources, and supporting vulnerable neighbors.

Core Themes:

  • Disasters impact marginalized communities first and hardest.

  • Planning ahead makes responses safer, calmer, and more effective.

  • Collective strategies keep everyone safer than going at it alone.

July 26, 2026: First Aid Foundations

Goal: Build lifesaving skills to respond confidently to emergencies until professional help arrives.

Core Themes:

  • First aid saves lives, especially where access to care is limited.

  • Everyone should learn these skills, you don’t need to be a medical professional.

  • Caring for others in emergencies builds trust and connection.

August 23, 2026: Supporting Queer & Trans Youth

Goal: Help participants create safer, affirming spaces for queer and trans youth and connect them to supportive resources and networks.

Core Themes:

  • Queer and trans youth face unique barriers to safety, care, and belonging.

  • Affirming language, spaces, and practices make a difference.

  • Community support like chosen family, peer networks, and safe adults are vital.

  • Building rapport is essential with youth, even more so with queer and trans youth that may not have supportive adults elsewhere.

September 27, 2026: Climate Change & Health Impacts

Goal: Understand the disproportionate impacts of climate change on health and prepare participants to stay safe, adapt, and build resilience together.

Core Themes:

  • Climate change worsens health disparities and hits marginalized communities hardest.

  • Preparing for extreme weather and disasters protects those most at risk.

  • Community-based solutions help us adapt and care for one another.

  • Survival requires collective adaptation and resource-sharing.

October 25, 2026: Nutrition, Energy & Movement

Goal: Support participants in finding balanced, inclusive approaches to nourishing their bodies, restoring energy, and moving in ways that feel good.

Core Themes:

  • Health looks different for everyone, and there’s no single “right” approach.

  • Food and movement can be rooted in joy, culture, and connection instead of shame.

  • Sustainable self-care practices are built on compassion, not restriction.

November 22, 2026: Building Community Care Networks (Capstone)

Goal: Bring together everything participants have learned to create shared care plans, strengthen connections, and build resilient support systems.

Core Themes:

  • We keep each other safe by showing up for one another.

  • Collective care creates belonging and sustains us in times of crisis.

  • Building care webs turns knowledge into action and strengthens communities.
